The Bahamas

No income, capital gains, inheritance or wealth tax, a currency pegged 1:1 to the US dollar, and permanent residence for a USD 1m investment held for 10 years. The catch is that the state taxes spending instead: 10% VAT on most goods and services, customs duty on imports, annual real property tax, and there is no double tax treaty with the UK.

Latitax verdict

No income, capital gains or inheritance tax; permanent residence by investment.

Ideal for: Retired or financially independent investors near the US.
